DIFFICULTIES ARE NEVER INNOCENT
Exodus 18:19
“Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and GOD will be with you: Stand before GOD for the people, so that you may bring the difficulties to GOD”
Finally justice was about to catch up with these culprits. They had been ravaging the community. They were the driving force in the hostilities meted out on those royals turned slaves. Vicious, cruel and unrelenting but at last they were about to meet their match.
Banking on the limitations of human insight they had invaded the tents of the community unnoticed. Suddenly the people who had suffered together and rejoiced at the unparalleled rescue from a furnace were now continually fighting and bickering on who-knows-what. Their menu was the same, their temporary abodes were similar, they had all ended their hard labour with an unexpected bonus of silver and gold, literally plundering the already weakened slave drivers who were left reeling from plagues.
Not even their diligent and dedicated spiritual leader could detect the cause for the sudden spike in complaints and abuses being reported from dawn to dusk. With selfless sacrificial patience and hard work he endured long days of labour, endeavouring to solve every one of those difficulties.
GOD sent a relative, a father-in-law to be exact, whose discernment and detective wisdom saved the day. These difficulties were not a matter of human mishaps and misunderstandings, they were demonically induced struggles. No amount of human ingenuity could solve them and settle the people. THEY NEEDED GOD.
That’s when the advice came gashing forth, like a fresh spring of water that has just burst through a rock, to the rescue of a sun scotched land, bringing those invisible, pervasive hoodlums to the all-knowing, all-seeing, Almighty GOD, the righteous judge.
Exodus 18:19
“Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and GOD will be with you: Stand before God for the people, so that you may bring difficulties to GOD”.
Now the gains of a people rescued from a furnace could be salvaged. And their Peace restored.
Deuteronomy 4:20
“But the LORD has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be His people, an inheritance, as you are this day”
Only after these difficulties were ‘brought to book’, after these invisible enemies were hauled before the invincible GOD, whose way was in the sea and His path on great waters, Only then could Israel be led like a flock through the wilderness.
Psalm 77:19-20
“Your way was in the sea, Your path in the great waters, And your footsteps were known. You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron”
Never stop praying! Demons drive difficulties
Refuse to be wearied by worries.
Wisdom unmasks them
Prayer unseats them
Never leave your altar undone! Hardships consist of ‘more than meets the eye’. Reject satan sponsored ‘realities of land mines and time-bombs.
Knowledge defuses them.
Prayer uproots them.
Bring those difficulties to GOD.
Let prayer paralyse them
Let faith neutralise them.
Let GOD arise and HIS enemies be scattered.
IN CONCLUSION:
The mode of operation was the same from Egypt. The spirits of difficulty used slave masters to archives the same goal.
Exodus 1:14
They made their lives bitter with harsh labour in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labour the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly.
Obviously the spirits of difficulties that caused Egyptians to ill-treat Israel did not die when Pharaoh’s elite army drowned. According to the song of Moses, they immediately reported the incidents of Pharaoh’s demise to the coven of witches. Phillistia and Moab. Or how else could they have known so much, so soon.
Exodus 15:14-15
“The people’s have heard of it; they tremble; pangs have taken hold of the inhabitants of Philistia. Now the chiefs of Edom are dismayed; the mighty men of Moab (renewed for strength), trembling takes hold of them; all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away - little by little; all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away - little by little.
When Moses sang these Words, Israel had not moved from the shores of the Red Sea. With non having escaped to tell the story of their drowning, how could Edom and Phillistia be all so clued up already?
The spirits of difficulties had abandoned Egypt’s lifeless bodies and trading them for the warm ones in Edom. Only to sleep back to Israel’s camp undefeated. As long as Moses was solving problems, prayer took a back seat, difficulties had a field day. Thank GOD for revelatory, counsel that brought revolutionary solutions.
PRAYERFULLY BRING THEM ALL TO GOD, IN JESUS NAME!
